It's official, the start to One Book One Valley 2017 (OBOV) is off and running! For those of you who don't know what OBOV is, it is a grassroots initiative that promotes the reading of a single title throughout the spring and promotes community engagement through involvement with book discussions, programming around the title, and culminates in an author visit and celebration. This year BMHS & EVHS are proudly partnering with OBOV and are bringing programming right to the students.
And the big reveal is . . . The High Divide by Lin Enger. The High Divide follows the journey of the Pope family as Gretta Pope wakes up one morning in 1886 to find that her husband, Ulysses, has left his wife and two sons behind. This story chronicles the Pope family's journey as the young Pope boys take off in the night after their father and Gretta must in turn go after her sons and hopefully find her husband and answers. A novel that paints an astonishing portrait not only of the western prairie, but also of family, sacrifice, mystery, and the question of how far should one go to recover something lost. Stay tuned for more to come with OBOV at BMHS, but also check out the OBOV website for information about events around the valley. Happy Reading!
